[Kayaking Expedition/Attachment at KKH]
Dear diary,
Record: 3 camps in 2 weeks.

There was once I went for 3 camps during my sec 3 end-year holiday. GB camp, choir camp and a 10-day cultural-exchange trip to Japan.

Anyway, I THOROUGHLY enjoyed this 2 weeks break. Went for JerangKang expedition in Kuantan, Malaysia, church camp in KL and kayaking expedition in Singapore-Pulau Ubin.

The kayaking expedition was tough but super fun! 1st day we kayaked to OBS campsite 2. HOT DAY man. Beached up there, settled down and started cooking dinner. My lovely wooden stool was of great use of course. I'm beginning to have some sentimental value towards it. It ease my aching legs and it's useful as a chopping board or table. =)

Dinner was excellent! Tess is the most wonderful cook ever. You're the best!

The night was mosquito-infested. My group did the first sentry duty. I played some card tricks. WeiNi and Abu managed to solve my magic card trick! Of course with lots of guidance and hints! =)

Didn't catch much sleep on the 1st night. Next day we kayaked for about 6 hours. Had lunch and snacks on the kayak. Then we finally beached up on this ulu island. There Mr.Wilfred taught hip-flicks to a few. He went through eskimo-roll paddle movement with me. I think he teaches better than my star3 instructor. Mr.Wilfred's the best! =D I suddenly feel very motivated to practice kayaking skills. Like my fear of capsizing isn't that strong after all that kayaking.

2nd night was spent at Sembawang. It isn't a campsite at all, just a little spot there. It was getting late, so we had to quickly pitch up tents and cook dinner before the sun floats away. Haha. Tess decided to have a tent-pitching competition. The person who pitches a tent the fastest will win. Sigh, I was forced to participate. Anyway I didn't win. Duh. HAHA.

Finally pitched up the tent, went to change and then went to help cook dinner. Was tasked with squeezing mushrooms again (the mushroom smell stays on your hand for more than 24h). Then later helped Loretta chop garlic (garlic smell stays on your hand too). Big sigh.

Dinner was of course excellent again because Tess is the cook! Would like to commend Loretta for frying the eggs so nicely! =) BRAVO! I know you can cook! Haha...when you come back as Alumni we let you cook okay? =D

2nd night I had to do sentry at the wee hours of the night. *pouts* Finished sentry at 4am, thought I could finally get some rest before getting up at 6pm. Laid down for only a few minutes when there was pitter-pattering sound on the sheet above us. Loretta said it's raining, I refuse to accept, coz if it's raining, means lots of things pack up = no sleep. HAHA.

Loretta was right. There was very strong gale at first. So strong that our basha snapped. Luckily Loretta was holding on to the pole...haha. Then it started pouring. The poured really hard. My goodness.

12 of us sqeezed into a very small space, say 3mX2m. We lay on groundsheets and covered ourselves with the sheet. It was super cramp in there. Just as we all laid down to sleep, a stream of water flowed in. Sigh..wet wet wet. After much wiping and after many soaked towels and clothes, we all settled down again to sleep. I slept on Ming Fei's stomach and Loretta was next to me. Was rather warm and cosy in there (no ventilation, my goodness). I woke up at 7.30am, legs were numb. Zul 'gave birth' to 2 girls (congrats), both were laying on his upper thighs and kama had her hands on his crotch (goodness). His legs were like paralyzed. Haha...poor chap.

Everyone got up to pack up and cook breakfast. Then set off to kayak back to Singapore. The weather was cool and breezy. Super good weather. Thank you God! Everyone was in good spirits. We had a couple of mystery stories, so exciting! And shared a few lame jokes. I switched to single kayak. Single kayak is more unstable, but easier to turn, goes faster, lighter and more freedom.

So far I have paired up with Ellyn, Loretta, Wei Ni, Elly.

We had to cross this big boat channel, really kayaked till my arms felt like it was falling off. Was mighty relieved to be back on land.

Had a really fun time! Thank you Loretta for making this trip super fun with your contagious laughter!

Sunday night came back from kayaking expedition, monday morning 7am in KKH, Ward 32, Obsterics. Was attached to the Nursery! AHHHH!! So many neonates! Hahaha...whole day just feed them, change their diapers. Managed to bath one baby.

Tuesday attached to a cubicle. Wednesday also in cubicle. Today, thursday went back to the Nursery. Haha...whole day the baby chup chup chup. There's this nice enrolled nurse there called Shan Shan. The other 2 senior staff nurses also very very nice! =)

Okay, now waiting for Loretta to reach home to go online. Zzzz...tired of waiting. =)

Bye
