On the last day of the camp, after I got my pay, I played the pocketbike. I went speeding through the road in the campsite and yah, off balance, flew off the bike and did a couple of popiah rolls. Got 1 bleeding injury and one superfical abrasion on the knee. *sigh*
Coz of the injuries, coulden't go for OBS (fortunately or unfortunately). I had to stay at home most of the time coz the pain is rather bad, limping here and there. Spent time with God. Hee.
My wound was infected and in takign care of my wound I learnt quite a bit on wound healing and the various products. Muaha. =) Jelonet was my best friend. Thankfully guo long had a motorbike accident before me, so all the wound care products were in the cupboard waiting for me to use.
In 2 weeks, my injuries healed and I could even go for a little run. Then I went for a 6-day expedition.
In the 4 days and 3 nights in Kelantan, Malaysia, we:
-Climbed 3 mountain summits
-Trekked to the top of the waterfall
-Went to 3 caves
Now that's a great feat! First day took an 11-hour train ride to Kelantan. Second day we went to 3 caves (limestone caves) and climbed to the top of the waterfall which took 2 hours. The third day we trek up to the top of a mountain Gunung Baha I think. It's 1.5km at the summit. We trekked from 11am till 7.30pm. Wah, I nearly lost my mind. Just kept staring at my feet, left right, left right, left right...had to start talking to myself for motivation. The night up there was super cold! wah, wear 3 layers and lots of hot drinks! But lots of hot drinks = lots of pee! haha. And to pee in the cold weather? Oh gosh. Anyway, the view from up there was spectacular! Hee! So nice! We could see all the other mountains! And we saw lots of elephant dung along the way...but didn't see any elephants. Maybe the elephants are hiding behind the trees. Ha ha ha...
Oh yah, on the way up to gunung baha, we ran out of water, so we collected from a stagnant spring and the water was yellow. Oh gosh. We used it for washing and cooking. Next morning, some had queasy stomachs and diarrhoea already. I only had a stomache.
The 4th day we trekked DOWN Gunung Baha, and UP to gunung stong summit. Then from gunung stong summit DOWN to the base camp at the top of the waterfall. That day, for the record, we trekked from 10am to 8pm at night. That's 10 hours, and our breaks only added up to like...45mins? At least day 3 had more breaks. Still had the stomache...
By late afternoon began to feel nauseous. I hardly ate...but drank water only.
The way down...was...at first challenging...then it became like pure torture. My knees were burning with pain coz we've been trekking for many hours and the past 2 days of long hours trekking with a 10kg backpack on ur shoulder UP AND DOWN the mountains. Yah. The way down was all MUD. MUD. MUD. Was very very slippery coz it rained a little in the afternoon. (I walked through the jungle with an umbrella) Haha.
It started to get dark already, could hardly see our way. One hand hold torchlight, the other hand use for support. As I was walking, suddenly I felt a sharp pain in my left thigh and I coulden't put my left leg forward. Then I realised that a stalk full of thorns had pierced into my thigh. Lucky the thorn is rather short, so can just pull it out. Hee.
On the way down also accidentally held on to thorns, wah...*deep breathing*
Every few minutes I was falling down and sliding on the mud slope. And to get up after falling down...with a heavy backpack...woo hooo! Killer.
Don't know why but I felt/thought a few things while I was trekking down.
-angry! frustrated, coz physically and mentally tired.
-this is really mind over body
-Will I ever reach base camp?
-Oh God, please sustain me
-Am I going to make it alive to Singapore?
8pm plus finally arrived at base camp! Wahh...SUPER happy la. Anyway that night I didn't eat much, nauseous + fever came on in the morning. But no diarrhoea/vomitting which some of the others had. The next day I didn't trek the waterfall, stayed at base camp with a couple of others. Was pretty nice also. Coz we enjoyed the environment, the natural sounds of the jungle and one big black noisy orang utan. hahaha.
:)
At 4pm we trekke down the waterfall to the railwa stn. Myself, eddry, loretta and kai boon (secret pal) walked tgt. We were too slow for the 1st grp but too fast for the 2nd group. We came to a 2 way lane and we followed our instinct and took the left path. It was really really steep but we reached the waterfall. Then we realised, we were lost. We knew we were on the correct path, coz it's the path we came up from. But...we didn't know the exact way. I did jungle calls and called our instructor's name. No response. Then, I asked kai boon to call Mr.Wilfred's hp. He called his friend first to get Mr.Wilfred's number. And his friend said, "lost in the wilderness still call me for what?"
HAHA.
Though we were lost, and it was getting dark soon, I wasn't in panic stage. It's very dangerous to be at a waterfall in the dark. You can't see where you're going and it's very slippery. One wrong move and it's slippery slide to your death. But I somehow trusted God and knew that somehow or other we were going to make it to base camp.
15mins later, we heard a jungle call reply. RELIEF. THANK GOD. The 2 guides, Mr.wilfred and pang keng. Hee. They led us back. =)
Hee...
This trip was a real lesson to many of us. It was difficult...much much more difficult than trekking berkelah and jerangkang waterfalls. Two things I will always remember from this expedition - bring only what is necessary and pack your bag properly. You and your bag...are one. =)
On the 6th day we arrived in Singapore. My diarrhoea began on the train. Had to go toilet like every 30mins? On that same night, we went to volunteer for an adventure race Dusk to Dawn. A race that starts at midnight to morning 7am.
I was at CP 1 with loretta and helmi, and then went to CP6. CP6 was at lim chu kang area, saw 2 prostitutes leh! Loretta, myself and one official were sitted around a table. Some the foreign workers approached us coz they thought we were prostitutes. Piang eh...haha.
My diarrhoea still persists, but I controlled it from midnight till next morning. The whole night I had that bubbling watery feeling at the descending colon. Wah, super uncomfortable.
My mp3 and my handphone went for a dip in yakult coz the yakult bottle in my bag burst. haiz. My fave mp3 spoilt and my handphone coulden't receive calls or call out. Super sad.
The next day, 13th Oct, monday, school started. SUPER TIRED. I slept during lessons. Haiz.
This is week 2 already, still surviving. But so busy catching up with my homework, my friends and with adventure club trainings and events organized by adventure club.
Tomorrow is friday, and monday is DEEPAVALI HOLIDAY! Happy deepavali to all!!
BYE!
